Auction Details

Rick had a passion to help other young entrepreneurs succeed at their own ideas and visions. There are numerous businesses in the Ludington area who can claim ties to Rick and his willingness to help them get started and succeed. After his death, a group of his close friends formed an organization in his honor to support young entrepreneurs and their dreams of opening a business of their own. The Rick Chapman Legacy League is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to assisting local young entrepreneurs via scholarships for business education and grants to help cover various start-up needs including property and equipment purchases, permits and fees, and other expenses needed to start their journey. Our primary annual fundraiser is the Rick Chapman Legacy Golf Outing, which takes place each August. In just two years, these sold-out events (along with several smaller fundraising efforts and some amazing community partners including Safe Harbor Credit Union, Ludington Bay Brewing Co., and Starving Artist Brewery) have allowed us to dish out $4000 in scholarships and put aside $25,000 to start our scholarship endowment fund at the Mason County Community Foundation. This year, we launched our small business grant application and we are in the process of spreading the word about our efforts to support local start ups. In the past, we’ve held a silent auction at the event to give non-golfers an opportunity to support our cause. We are excited to announce that this year's auction will be held online so that anyone can participate. Bidding will be available the entire week leading up to the golf event (August 4-11). To facilitate this, we are teaming up with Travel Pledge, which allows charitable-minded entrepreneurs like yourself to donate items for charities to use in their silent auction events. It’s a risk-free way for us to offer international experiences, golf trips, and vacations in addition to local products and services. Travel Pledge will allow us to showcase your donated items alongside their offerings in our online auction. This gives your business exposure to a much broader audience as a supporter of our cause.
